Your social studies notebook is an important part of your grade, and is a key to success in this class! We keep a cumulative notebook for the following reasons:
- to improve or reenforce organizatiinal skills,
- to be prepared for the final at the end of the year,
- to preserve materials we will refer back to throughout the year.
The notebook is worth 50 points each quarter. This should be an “safety net” type grade. In other words, if you stay organized bring your notebook to class and put ALL your materials in it, all you have to do is hand me the notebook for a guaranteed good grade at the end of the quarter. This can be important if you are not a great test-taker, or have missed a few homeworks, etc.
Preparing to turn in your notebook—- Make sure your notebook is complete – check for classroom notes you might have missed due to absence, complete any worksheets or assignments you did not have finished earlier — you could still get some points. Remember, your notebook should include all work we’ve done this quarter: homework, classwork (notes and board work) and worksheets. Organize your notebook so that materials are rightside up and not folded…. this makes them much easier to grade and minimizes the cranky factor on my part!
And at the end of the year, 100 points for turning in your complete American Cultures 1 notebook – all 4 quarters!
